SERVICES

In a crowded digital world, standout audio and video can make or break your creative project. Listeners tune out fast when vocals are muddy, guests are drowned in music and room-tone, or the mix booms too hard for a TV or car stereo. Fact is, amateur sound is a silent killer of engagement. But you don’t need to trek to a studio or shell out for a pricey studio setup to get professional results. Steampipe Audio Foundry brings the fix straight to you, no matter where you are.

At Steampipe Audio Foundry, I bring your audio to life—whether you’re refining a podcast, cleaning up dialogue, or seeking expert guidance to nail your recording setup. With over 30 years behind the console, I deliver top-tier results without the big-studio hassle or price tag.

Remote Audio Solutions

No need to step foot in the studio for fast, professional results. Send me your files, and I’ll handle the rest—delivering clean, high-quality audio back to you, wherever you are.

  • Editing & Cleanup: Noise reduction, click removal, and audio restoration to make your tracks crystal clear.
  • Mixing Dialogue & Stems: Balancing pre-recorded elements: dialog, music, and sound effects for podcasts, voiceovers, or video projects.
  • Voiceover & Podcast Production: Leveling, EQ, and compression to make your voice shine. Whether it’s a solo cast or a roundtable chat, it has to sound good everywhere.
  • File Prep & Delivery: Seamless transfers in any format you need, optimized for your platform or workflow.

Studio Booking for Mixers, Engineers, and Songwriters

For those who want to get hands-on, Steampipe’s hybrid control room is available to book by the day or week. Whether you do it yourself, bring your own mixer or engineer, or use me, bring your project to life with full access to premium gear in a creative environment.

Audio Education & Consulting

Gear, acoustics, and recording can feel like a maze whether you’re starting out or leveling up. I’ve spent years demystifying it all, from building iconic studios to teaching audio engineering at NYU. Whether you’re a musician, podcaster, or video creator, I offer personalized guidance to fit your needs and budget:

  • One-on-one consultations to troubleshoot your setup or workflow.
  • Custom advice on mic placement, room treatment, DAWs, I/O, workflow, and gear selection.
  • Practical tips to get the most out of what you’ve got—no upsells, just real talk. You’ll be surprised at just how much you DON’T have to spend!

Why trust me with your sound? I’ve spent decades shaping audio for artists, producers, and storytellers worldwide—honing a craft that’s equal parts technical precision and creative instinct. At Steampipe, it’s not about flashy name-drops (though a quick search of ‘Skoti Alain Elliott’ might turn up a few); it’s about delivering results that speak for themselves. Drop me a line, and let’s get your project sounding its best.

HYBRID WRITING, TRACKING, MIXING, and PODCASTING

The Steampipe Audio Foundry is a boutique, state-of-the-art audio control and mix room designed for creators who value quality, comfort, and affordability. Tucked away in Bloomfield, New Jersey—just minutes from NYC—this intimate space is perfect for one or two artists (or three, including Skoti as your engineer/mixer) to work seamlessly.

Unlike the sprawling, high-cost studios that dominate the scene (often booked in pricey 8 or 12 hour blocks), Steampipe offers a smarter alternative. Here, you get the same top-tier quality such as five fully refurbished Neve VR series channels (preamps, filters, dynamics, and EQs, modded by John Musgrave and upgraded by Jeff Delbelo at dBSound), and a lush all-valve vocal chain featuring Manley, Avalon, and a Summit TLA—without the hefty price tag or urban chaos. Add a 500 rack with dual Class A 1073s, 80-series 2264 dynamics, stunning UT EQs, and a curated lineup of mics and analog outboard gear, and you’ve got a setup that captures every nuance with warmth and clarity. (Check the full gear list below for the rundown on hardware, software, plug-ins, virtual instruments, vintage samplers, and guitars.)

Powered by a Mac Studio M2 Ultra and SSL’s UF-8 and UF-1 controllers, Steampipe blends cutting-edge automation with a tactile, hands-on feel. It’s a hybrid haven for independent singer-songwriters, producers, and mixers—and a dream spot for podcasters. The dedicated 'Map Room' is a perfect spot for roundtable discussions and voice recording, doubling as a cozy video setup for interviews or solo casts. Step outside, and the attached garden with its fire pit offers a one-of-a-kind setting for laid-back, open-air podcast conversations (fingers crossed no planes buzz overhead!).

Beyond music and voice, Steampipe is built for creativity—whether you’re editing tracks, crafting voiceovers, or shaping your next podcast episode. Located just outside the NYC grind, it’s easy to reach, free of city stress, and complete with a full kitchen and serene surroundings. At Steampipe Audio Foundry, you’re not just booking a studio—you’re stepping into a space where sonic excellence meets a relaxed, inspiring workflow.

CONTACT and BOOKING

ABOUT SKOTI-ALAIN ELLIOTT

Skoti-Alain Elliott is a seasoned recording engineer, mixer, and musician based in the New York/New Jersey area, with roots in the vibrant music scenes of London and Virginia Beach. Known simply as Skoti (pronounced Scotty), he relocated to NYC at the age of 20, where he quickly made his mark designing, building, and maintaining iconic recording spaces like The Looking Glass, The Apollo, Greene Street Recording, and The Cutting Room, among others. His entry into engineering was a twist of fate: when an engineer failed to show for an overdub session, Skoti stepped in at the last minute. That session? The Cranberries’ debut album—an unexpected launchpad for an extraordinary career.

Throughout the ’90s and beyond, Skoti became a sought-after talent, recording, mixing, and performing on countless projects across top studios in NYC, LA, the UK, Canada, Germany, and the Czech Republic. His credits span an eclectic range of artists, including Bruce Hornsby, The Corrs, The Cranberries, Paula Abdul, Joan Osborne, Sophie B. Hawkins, Philip Glass, Imani Coppola, Dido, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, Prong, BoyZone, Swirl360, and many more. His hands-on approach and keen ear brought authenticity and sonic excellence to every record he touched.

In 2006, after navigating a shifting industry and feeling the weight of burnout, Skoti pivoted to launch Swingin’Sam Designs, a web-based application company focused on innovative custom solutions for the emerging Web 2.0 landscape. By 2012, he shifted gears again, marrying and raising his son while continuing to nurture his passion for music and expanding into video editing from his personal studio.

Now, in 2025, Skoti proudly reopens The Steampipe Audio Foundry—a cutting-edge space designed for a new era of music production, podcast recording, and video editing. With decades of experience and an unwavering commitment to sonic quality, Skoti thrives on stripping away technical barriers to let creativity shine. The Steampipe Audio Foundry is more than a studio; it’s where artists and storytellers come to craft something real.
